A Very Viking Valentine {Avery Elle}

Hello friends,

I am on the Avery Elle blog today with a card I made using the Viking Clear Stamp set and coordinating dies.

Supplies:

I stamped the Viking and hearts, colored them in with the Zig Clean Color Markers, and die cut the images.  I die cut the scalloped heart from red card stock and adhered it to a Fog note card from the midnight collection. I adhered the Viking to the card with foam tape and added a strip of washi tape and the small hearts with dots of glue from a glue pen.

Well that's it for me today, but be sure to stop by the Avery Elle blog for even more inspiration from the AE Design Team!

Thanks for stopping by!

Bonjour Mon Cheri {Avery Elle}

Hello friends and Happy Friday!

I am on the Avery Elle blog today with this sweet + bold card featuring the Mon Cheri stamp set and Mon Cheri Ellements dies.

I stamped and die cut the cherries and colored them with Zig Watercolor Markers adding a bit of highlighting with a white gel pen. I tried to place them in something that looked like a bowl, as in "life is a bowl of cherries," but it didn't quite translate the way I envisioned.  Instead, I placed them inside a circle and frame die cut with the Double Pierced Circle Ellements dies.  I went with a note card from the Caribbean Collection as the blue complimented the red and yellow quite nicely.  A full list of my supplies is linked below.

Well, that's it for me today, but I do hope that you will stop by the Avery Elle blog to see more inspiration from the Avery Elle team.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Essentials by Ellen January Pin-Sights Challenge

Hello friends,

I am honored today to be playing along with the January Essentials by Ellen Pin-Sights Challenge

The Essentials by Ellen Pin-Sights challenge is a monthly inspirational challenge based on a Pinterest Inspired photo that is located on the CLASSroom blog.  There's lots to love in this month's inspiration photo- so many dreamy images and luscious shades of red.

I used the Essentials by Ellen Love You So clear stamps and the Essentials by Ellen Folk Hearts designer dies to create my card.  With the inspiration photo andValentine's Day right around the corner, I was immediately drawn to these stamps and dies.  I love the brush lettering the the Love You So stamp set and the hearts are the perfect size for cards.

I used Distress Ink to watercolor a panel of watercolor paper.  Once the panel was dry, I spritzed it with water and blotted the panel to create the bleached out looking spots.  I die cut a panel of white card stock with the largest heart die.  Before adhering the die cut card stock to the watercolor panel, I applied watermark ink to the edge of the card stock and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.

I adhered the card stock to the watercolored panel and stamped the sentiment from Love you So with black ink before adhering both layers to a white card base. I have to tell you that this "I love you more" sentiment reminds me of a little back and forth saying that my hubby and I had when we were newlyweds.  It went like this...

Person 1: I love you.
Person 2: I love you too.
Person 1: I love you four.
Person 2: I love you more.

Weren't we the cutest?

A complete list of my supplies is listed below.

Now it's your turn to play along for an amazing prize! A random challenge participant will receive a $50 gift certificate to the Ellen Hutson store .  To be eligible, you MUST use Essentials by Ellen products and the photo badge as inspiration. Submit your entry to the inlinkz on the challenge post

Sweater Weather {Waffle Flower Crafts}

Hello, hello!

It's Tuesday already, and I am popping in today to share a couple cards using Waffle Flower Craft's adorable On My Mark stamp set and On My Mark die.  I was beginning to think that Winter lost our address in Ohio, but it found us with a vengeance.  It's COLD, and we are doing whatever it takes to stay cozy around here and generally that means sweaters. Not wanting to leave anyone out, I used my ever-growing stash of washi tape, I fashioned some sweaters for the sweet On My Mark doggie and kitty.

My first card was inspired by the "I love you this much" sentiment included in the set.  I stamped and die cut the kitty along with several strips of white card stock at 7/16".  I wrapped the strips of cardstock with washi and adhered them to the card at approximately 1" intervals.

 I left room in the top and bottom row for the kitty face, sentiment and hind legs and tail.  I love that the "sweater showcased some of my very favorite washi tapes- they look so colorful and pretty!

For my second card, I used the doggie stamp and made him a simple sweater using only two types of washi tape.

I gave him some fun birthday accents including a hat made from the tree in A Homemade Christmas stamp set.  The tiny star and ball were made with the Tiny Die Trio.  I am thinking this card will be perfect to send my little nephew on his next birthday.

Well that's it for me today!  Thanks for stopping by and stay warm!

Crazy for You {Avery Elle}

Good morning!

I am back from CHA and it was so much fun!  One of the highlights was getting to spend a little time with Jamie and some of the other sweet gals on the Avery Elle team.  I also got to see next month's new release items in person, and they are sooo cute!  But before I get too excited about what's coming next, there's a lot more cuteness to share from our current release!  I am up on the Avery Elle blog today with a bold card using the Simply Said: Crazy for You stamp set and the Simply Said: Crazy Elle-ments dies

I die cut crazy from black and white card stock and adhered it to a heart that I cut with the Scalloped and Pierced Hearts Elle-ments die.  I stamped the sentiment in black ink directly onto the heart and adhered it to a panel of white card stock which was die cut with the Scalloped Banner Elle-ments die. I attached the layers to a note card from The Midnight Collection A2 folded cards.  The strip of patterned paper is from the Neutral Collection paper pad.

Well, that's it for me today, but be sure to stop by the Avery Elle blog for even more inspiration from the Avery Elle design team!

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm off to CHA (and a couple cards to share)

Hello friends,

Today, I am westward bound for the CHA trade show with Waffle Flower Crafts.  I woke up this morning to find out that my 7 a.m. flight from Akron to Chicago was cancelled (thanks a lot United), so my travel itinerary has been pushed back a few hours.  I got to spend extra time with my girlies this morning and I think I will use these bonus hours to clean up around the house and finish taking down some of the Christmas decorations... or nap... tough decisions.

Nina put together this fun graphic to show the team's travel routes- I am CAK through ORD finally arriving at SNA around 10 p.m. PT which is 1 a.m. ET.

If you are attending the show, please stop by Booth #2313 to say hello.  I would love to meet my crafty friends in person! If you aren't attending the show, please follow me on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/kategehring/) for behind the scenes pics, show floor action, and other random acts of  fangirling and creativity.

It's been quite here on the blog- I promise I didn't fall down a rabbit hole or off the face of the earth! Between the holidays and CHA sneaks and previews, my regular posting schedule has been on sabbatical.  I've enjoyed the break, but I am looking forward to getting back into a routine of blogging and sharing towards the end of next week.

Before I go, I thought I would share a couple cards that have been hanging out on my computer's hard drive for a while.   I was challenged as part of the submission call to use up some scraps to create a card, and I came up with a couple ideas using some of Waffle Flower Craft's tiny dies.

My first card pairs a sentiment from the now discontinued Foodie stamp sent from Mama Elephant with the Tag Hole Reinforcer die to create the cereal. I added stickles to the Fruit Loop piece to mimic a sugary coating. The bowl is a Silhouette die cut. I also used my Copic markers to color in the letters in the sentiment- such a fun look and sentiment!

This festive card pairs Waffle Flower's Bowtiful stamp set with the Tiny Die Trio.  I lined up the die cuts in three neat rows to create a border and stamped the sentiment above the rows of die cuts.  These tiny dies are so cute and can turn even the smallest of scraps into something that you can use!

Well, that's it for me today.  Hopefully my rescheduled flights are the extent of the travel drama that I will experience on this trip.  :)   Thanks for stopping by!
