Did you hear the one about the fork and the cupcake?

Hello!

I am over at the Neat and Tangled blog today with a card and a joke that goes something like this... what did the fork say to the cupcake?

You're Nauti-cool

I think the nautical theme in paper crafting is officially a trend. This past weekend, I was at Archiver's and noticed nautical themed lines from both Glitz Designs and Fancy Pants. Then there are these fun products from Lifestyle Crafts. From sailor stripes to anchor motifs, what's a land-lubber to do? Even the July/August issue of Paper Crafts magazine will have a nautical feature and Paper Crafts is pretty much the authority in what's trendy and fun.

Clearly, there is just no stopping the nautical undertow! I decided to "get on the boat" with all things nautical for the latest Avery Elle's AEI{heart}U challenge.

I stamped the background using the wave images from Knotty.  I love how even the smallest stamps used repeatedly can create such an impact. Next, I die-cut a tag and stamped the background image from Fanfare in navy ink. I stamped the compass from Knotty in gray ink onto a die-cut circle.

To reflect the pier from the inspiration photo, I added a strip of wood plank patterned paper.  I stamped the sentiment in navy on a flag tail strip. A bit of twine and a strip of washi tape finished off the card.

Here is the photo that inspired this nautical card.

Thank you so much for sailing by today! Have a great one!

Chalkboard Birthday Card

Hello friends!

My apologies for the quiet on the blog-front of late.  Most of what has been occupying my time lately are the not so charmed aspects of life. As a result, my crafty time and mojo have been extremely limited.

I am slowly getting back into the swing of things and I do have some cards and projects to share with you this week. I thought I would start off by sharing a card I created using the chalkboard technique + WPlus9's Written on Ribbon stamp set.

I stamped and embossed the ribbon and sentiments onto black chalkstock from Canvas Corp.To further enhanced the chalkboard look, I added some white pigment ink and shading with a white colored pencil.

I die cut a few clouds from patterned paper and adhered them to the card along with some small stars. A strip of washi and coordinating patterned paper finished off the card.

I hope you are having a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

Just Thinking of You features the cutest thought bubble and accompanying sentiment.  I adore Danielle's handwriting! I embossed the inages in black chalkstock and added it to a card base that I covered with patterned paper from Crate Paper.

All of the stamps previewed this week, will be available for purchase tomorrow! Be sure to stop by the Neat and Tangled blog to see all the wonderful creations that the design team created!

Neat and Tangled Release Week: Introducing On the Strip 2

Hello friends!

It's release week at Neat and Tangled Stamps and over the next 3 days, the Design Team will be introducing three brand new stamp sets that will be available for purchase on Thursday, March 6.

Today, we are featuring On the Strip 2, a follow up to the ever-popular, On the Strip that was released in January 2013. With this follow up set, Danielle added more fun and versatile borders including solid stripes, woodgrain, polkadots and more.

For my card, I used the thicker of the two solid stripes to create this card:

I stamped the stripes in Cameo Coral, Sage Shadow and Night of Navy ink from Stampin' Up.  Using a grid stamp block, it was pretty painless to line up and evenly space the stripes. I backed the stamped panel with some woodgrain pattern from the Trendsetter paper pad by Fancy Pants, which incidentally inspired my color selections.

After all the effort that went into stamping those stripes, I decided to keep the sentiment treatment simple, so I ended up the sentiment stamped on cream mounted on a scalloped oval.  Oh, and that adorable scripted  sentiment may be a little sneaky peek of fun things to come... :o)

Be sure to stop by the Neat and Tangled blog to see what the other designers created with On the Strip 2. Remember, if you see something you like, it will be available on Thursday!
