Skipping Stones- Challenge #130

Good morning!

Thank you so much for stopping by.  It's Inspiration Tuesday with Skipping Stones design and we are taking a holiday from our usual sketch challenges this week to try something a bit different, a color challenge.

I took cues from the surf, sand, and those fabulous umbrellas to create the following card:

On a white panel, I stamped the feather from Victorian Summer is a few different ink colors.  The sentiment, from Sentiment Frames, was stamped in kraft ink.  I mounted the completed panel to a kraft card base, rounded the bottom corner and added a few gems to finish off the card.

Now it's your turn to create a card inspired by these colors, simply link up your version to the Skipping Stones blog by next Monday night.  One participant will win a free Skipping Stones set of her choice!!!

That's all for me today.  Thank you for stopping by!  Hope your week is off to a great start!

Once Upon A Time...

....there was a girl
and she was very brave
and she was amazing
and I was so proud of her

When I saw tIhese sentiments that Claire included in her new Half-Pint Heroines set, I am not going to lie, I fell hard.  As a momma to two little girls, these sweet sentiments so perfectly capture what I want them to know most of all.

I wanted to share a card I created for this month's Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Party. I use Half-Pint Heroines to create a "lunch box" card for my daughter, Paige.

Because I love these sentiments so, I really let them take center stage on the card. I framed the sentiment with patterned paper and a delicate scallop edge created with an EK Success edger punch.  The patterned paper is from Echo Park- This and That collection.  The die is Mat Stack 4 from Papertrey Ink and a little doily and heart sticker surrounded the die cut.

Going with the theme of this month's blog hop to use felt or cozy fabrics on our project, I added a felt bow in teal to "tie" everything together so to speak.  The felt bow is by Prima.

I do hope that Paige likes the card.  I wish I could be there to see her face when she opens the card in her lunch tomorrow morning.

That's all for me today.  Thank you so much for stopping by!

Introducing Grapeful- SSD and Twinery Blog Hop

Good morning!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  It's a big, big day because Skipping Stones Designs is celebrating the release of our newest set, Grapeful and we are partnering with The Twinery to do it up big!

If you are hopping along today, you should have arrived from Amy's Crockett's blog.  If not, please visit The Twinery or Skipping Stones Design to pick up the hop order from the beginning.

Using Grapeful, I created a card using our sketch artist, Heidi Van Laar's, fantastic sketch as a starting point.

I started by stamping the very funny sentiments on a circle patterned paper.  I stamped the martini glass and citrus wedges, fussy cut them and added some Stickles to mimic the look of a sugared or salted rim. I adhered the citrus to the top of the card to create a scalloped edge.

The Twinery sent us an awesome sampler of twine to play with, and I added a band of twine and I created a frame with the twine, by running some glue around the circle and adhering two strands of twine. A few blue pearls finished off the card. All the patterned papers are from Heidi Swapp's Sugar Chic collection.

Happy Birthday!

Hello!

Happy Sketchy Tuesday, friends! Just wanted to share a little card I created for this week's sketch challenge at Skipping Stones Design.  Using Heidi Van Laar's awesome sketch, here is what I came up for this week:

The party hat started off life as a triangle tag.  I stamped dots from Garden Stamp Kiss and topped the hat with the sparkler image from Cupcake Cutie. A little rickrack embellishment on the bottom edge finished off the hat.  I mounted the hat on a background created from the sprinkles from the cupcake set and overlaid the music image from Timeless Textures.

The sentiment is from Grunge 1 stamped in brown ink and finished with a wooden button from Prima.

Ready to take on this week's sketch?  Here it is!

Just link your take on the sketch to the Skipping Stones blog by next Monday night for a chance to win a free Skipping Stones set of your choice.  You don't even have to use Skipping Stones stamps, just show us your take on the sketch.

Well, that's it for me today!  Be sure to check out the other DT gals and our guests for more inspiration using  the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by!

Bonjour!

Hello!

Hope you had a lovely weekend and a Happy Mother's Day!  I got a few blissful moments in my craft room to create a card using Waltzingmouse Stamp's French Country and Chicken wire.  The layout for this card was inspired by this card by Ashley Cannon Newell (thanks Ashley!).

The main panel of the card is Vintage Cream.  I stamped the top portion with the small Chicken wire and the bottom with the tile pattern from french country. The stripes are decorative tape from Martha Stewart.  I did adhere the tapes to a separate pieces of cardstock to avoid the stamped pattern showing through.  Once all the tapes were laid out, I adhered them to the panel at a diagonal and trimmed the excess.

I stamped the rooster and sentiment in dark chocolate ink and finished the panel with a bit of twine + a red button.  All of the edges were inked and then the finished panel was adhered to a kraft card base.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Lots of spots and polka dots

Hello everyone!

It's Feature Friday at Skipping Stones Design and I wanted to share a quick and easy card that I made inspired by some summer shopping.

A few weeks back, I was flipping through Hanna Andersson's latest catalog and came across this adorable sundress.

I loved the colors and the style and challenged myself to create a card based on the dress as inspiration.

Using Grunge and Garden Stamp Kiss, I came up with this very clean and simple card:

I used the two circle stamps from Garden Stamp Kiss to stamp random dots in pink, yellow, grey and orange.

I then stamped the sentiment from Grunge in black and finished off the panel with a bit of grid patterned washi tape.  I matted the finished card on a grey card base.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  Hope you have a great day!

Thinking of You

Happy Sketchy Tuesday!

Just wanted to share a little card that I created for Skipping Stones Sketch #127.  I recently got my hot little hands on one of Skipping Stones older releases, Victorian Summer, and all I can say is this one is truly swoon-worthy, friends.

I stuck pretty close to the sketch because it was just perfect for the look I was trying to achieve.  I stamped the large flower from Victorian Summer onto 3 die cut flowers that I scruffed up and bit, layers and attached together with some adhesive and a large brad.  I stamped the rose vine on the project in two corners using a very light tea dye ink- I really love how it almost looks like it's part of the patterned paper.  The sentiment was stamped on a banner die that I trimmed and inked up a bit.

Here is a look at this week's sketch:

Skipping Stones Design hosts a sketch challenge each week on the blog and the winner gets to select a free set of choice. Head over to the Skipping Stones blog for more details and to link up your fabulous creation.  While you are there, check out the amazing parade of inspiration featuring the design team and our guests!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  Make it a great one!

For a Wonderful Mother

Hello and Happy Tuesday!

Well, it's May already and it's Tuesday which means we have new friends joining us at Skipping Stones Designs, a new sketch artist AND a new sketch!  That is a whole lotta newness round these parts.

First up, our sketch artist this month is none other than the fabulous Heidi Van Laar- I think you have heard of her, right? Our other guest designers are the equally fabulous Taylor Usry and Jennifer Rzasa.

Here is my card using Heidi's first sketch:

I used Beautiful Botanicals and Dandelion Dreams to create this mother's day.   It seems like you can never have too many of those this time of year!  The yummy blue and yellow papers are Lily Bee designs.

Here is another look.

For more inspiration, be sure to check out our guests and the other DT gals!  This is the sketch we are using today.

Are you ready to give this sketch a whirl?  Link up your version to the Skipping Stones blog by next Monday for a chance to win a free set of your choice!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you have a wonderful May Day!
